how to find Jesus

Have you been searching for how to find God? Millions of people search daily for how to find God. You’re not alone if you’re searching for God and have no idea where to look.

People have been searching their whole lives, and still, many haven’t found Him. Are you on a journey on how to find Jesus in your life? Or maybe you were a believer who got distracted, lost your way, and are wondering how to get back to God.

Then this article will be of great help. This article teaches how to find God through these twelve experiences every Christian can relate to, and you can apply them in your quest to find God.

1.  Pray

How is your prayer life? Prayer, for many people, is about strengthening their relationship with God. However, prayer is one of the ways on how to find God, as this can help you feel closer to God and even ask for help in overcoming personal struggles.

Prayer is one of the most critical parts of a believer’s journey toward finding Jesus. As a believer struggling with daily life or dealing with tough questions regarding faith and religion, prayer is often a crucial step toward finding your way back to God.

Prayer is a definite step on how to find God again. It’s one of those steps that may sound too simple, but it works. So often, when we are lost in life and don’t know what to do or where our future is heading, prayer is an excellent way to find our direction.

Are you seeking ways on how to find God? Then, it is crucial for you to pray. The prayer life of a Christian is vital in our quest to find God. Prayer allows us to talk with God and listen for his voice that speaks peace and comfort into our hearts.

2.  Through His Word

Reading the Bible is one of the lifelines of a believer. It is not just something we do as a religious practice. It is one of the ways a believer can have a practical spiritual life. The word of God is an expression of the life of Jesus.

So as a believer, if you have wondered how to find Jesus again, you can be sure to find Him when you read His word. So the second tip on how to find God is through His word.

The more time you spend with God’s Word, the more you grow and learn about Christ, who He is and what He means in your life. So make the word of God a priority every day.

Meditate on what you have read, and ensure you apply it to your life. Reading the scripture is essential to every Christian’s daily life. Not only will it strengthen your relationship with God, but it also will help you make sense of what’s happening around you.

It will aid you in how to find God when you don’t believe due to the difficult things that may be going on in your life that hinder your faith.

3.  Seek God Wholeheartedly

Another way on how to find God is to seek God wholeheartedly. The Bible in Jeremiah 29:12-14 tells us, “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD….”

In the Bible, God promises that you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart. If you desire to know God in real and personal ways with all of your heart, then you will get to know Him because He will reveal Himself to you.

When you commit to seek God’s will (ahead of your own will) and seek God with all your heart, He will reveal His perfect will, your purpose and your calling to you.

Likewise, if you seek God’s guidance and wisdom with all your heart, God will personally guide you and give you His superior wisdom for any decision, need, or situation.

This is why one way on how to find God is to seek Him with the whole of your heart. To seek God with all your heart is about having a love and a passion for God.

4.  Through Christian Materials

how to find Jesus

Christain materials are great ways on how to find God. Whether it’s a Christian book or video, Christian music, or any resource, there are plenty of ways to grow your faith and help you in your quest to find Jesus again.

Christian literature is one of the best ways to grow in your faith. So with that in mind, check out Christian books, audio sermons, music and videos, and Christian podcasts. These materials can be found online or at your local Christian bookstore or library.

5.  Seek The Lord In Faith

Seeking the Lord in faith is another way on how to find God. When we seek the Lord in faith, we open our hearts and minds to His guidance. We are asking for His help in finding our way and in making decisions.

We are looking to Him for strength and for comfort. And we believe that He will answer our prayers. Seeking the Lord in faith is not a one-time event, but rather it is a lifelong journey.

It is a journey that will take us to places we could never have imagined. It is a journey that will challenge us and stretch us. But it is a journey that is worth taking because it is a journey that leads us to life.

Seeking Jesus is about pursuing a relationship with him. Christians can get lulled into being satisfied with their relationship with God. To seek means actively pursuing more.

We reap what we sow in any relationship, and it’s no different with God. When we seek Him, we nurture the relationship, which is a definite way to find God.

6.  Love The Lord

In John 14:15-24, Jesus tells his disciples, “If you love me, keep my commands.” There’s a reason He lists loving God first and foremost.

It is the foundation for all his other commands and a way to find God.

Loving God first means doing what He says because we want to please and glorify Him. But how do we love someone so completely? First, we must be honest with ourselves and ask God to reveal anything in our lives that prevent us from loving Him with all our hearts.

There are many ways you can grow in your love for God, like praying, getting involved in a local church, or maybe even reading a book on Christianity. Another great way to show your love for God is through simple acts of kindness and generosity.

7.  Dwell In God’s Presence

One of my favorite verses in the scripture is Psalm 63:1-2. The psalmist said, “O God, you are my God; I shall seek you earnestly; my soul thirsts for you; my body longs for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

David expresses His desire for God’s presence with the metaphor that represents how a thirsty person seeks water in a desert under unfavorable weather. Psalm 63 always reminds me of the refreshment that comes from dwelling in God’s presence.

This is why one of the ways to find God is by dwelling in His presence. We are conscious of his presence in our lives when we dwell with God.

This consciousness can be a feeling of closeness or contentment with God, but it can also be an awareness of God’s greatness, power, wisdom or love.

8.  Seek The Help Of Others

how to find Jesus

On your journey to finding the Lord, you can reach out to people for help as fellow believers. We all can benefit from receiving advice and support from others. So if you’re looking for ways to find Christ, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

If you feel like prayer is getting you nowhere, spend some time talking with your pastor or local religious official. Others who have experienced similar trials can give you helpful insight or offer sound advice about moving forward.

Don’t allow the fear of what other people might say to keep you from asking for help. One of the best ways to find Jesus is through a community. In John 17:3, Jesus instructs his followers to continue in unity.

When we surround ourselves with spiritually encouraging believers, we can avoid falling into temptation and learn how best to pursue God together.

Whether you belong to a department in your church or not, consider joining a Christian community where you can meet people who share your faith and values. You’ll be able to ask questions and make connections which might help you on your journey.

9.  Through Retreats

Retreats are a great way to spend time with the Lord and escape life’s distractions. The retreat begins by going somewhere quiet where you can focus on God and pray.

For many people, retreats are a chance to get some time alone with God that they don’t usually have at home or work because of their responsibilities.

One-day or weekend retreats are common and can be a great way to engage in Christian fellowship, especially if you live far from other believers. Many churches offer these types of retreats on an annual basis.

They’re a good choice for busy people who want spiritual refreshment but don’t have flexible time.

Daylong events are sometimes called sunrise services because they’re designed to start early to give those who attend as much downtime during daylight hours as possible. This is to allow enough time after dark for evening activities like bonfires and stargazing.

10.  During Your Quiet Time

People often say Christianity is not a religion. It’s a relationship. The point of that statement is that our righteousness isn’t based on ritualistic behaviors and practices; the Christian faith is about our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

This means we don’t pray because God demands it as a prerequisite for salvation. Instead, we pray because we want to be united with God.

People don’t speak to their spouses because of a contractual obligation; they do it because good communication is how they maintain a healthy relationship. The same is true for our relationship with God.

Your quiet time is an expression of this truth. It’s a regular appointment that you keep with God that allows you to block out other distractions and focus on your connection with Jesus making it a great way on how to find God.

When we commit to a regular quiet time to deepen our relationship with Christ, we grow and become empowered to expand our knowledge of the kingdom through that connection. But there are other essential benefits to establishing a consistent time with God.

11.  Stay Away From Sin

Sin is anything that displeases God. Therefore, as believers who desire a blossoming relationship with God, we must make it our duty to avoid sin. It’s hard to walk with Jesus if you live in a way that disobeys His commands.

Romans 8:8-9 tells us, “Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.

And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” This is why it is essential to stay away from sin to find God as a believer.

12.  Ask Him To Reveal Himself To You

how to find God

The last way to find God is to ask him to reveal Himself to you. You could search for God your entire life, but if you never ask Him to show Himself to you, He probably won’t.

In John 14:6, Jesus promises that no one comes to Him unless the Father has enabled him. That means you have to have a personal encounter with God at some point in time if you want to find Him.

God desires that you find Him so ask Him to reveal Himself to you. God is more than willing to reveal himself in a way you can understand, but it’s up to you whether or not you accept His advances.

In John 14:6, Jesus tells us that No one comes to Him unless he is drawn by his own will and choice. If we want a relationship with Him, we must be open and invite him into our lives—but it should also be clear that He will continue to seek out those who need Him even if they aren’t looking for Him.

God never shuts any doors without giving us a key; He waits for us on the other side until we unlock them ourselves.

Prayer To Increase Your Prayer Life

Do you often struggle to pray? Do you have a difficult time maintaining a consistent prayer life? Here is a prayer to help you increase your prayer life.
Please pray with me:

Dear Heavenly Father,
I bow my heart before You and give You honor and praise.
Oh God, strengthen my prayer life. Help me to pray more.
Help me to truly know who I am in Christ, to understand that You always hear me, to know Your Word so I can pray well, to write down my own prayer needs and the needs of others, and to understand that You do know me.
Please help me to be devoted to you and your presence.
Please help me to stay connected to you in purity and faith.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
