1.  You Have A New Nature

When an individual experiences the new birth through the work of the Holy Spirit, a profound transformation takes place. This is one of the signs the Holy Spirit is in you.

This transformation involves receiving a new nature, a nature that aligns with God’s desires and purposes. This new nature is a result of being born again, born of the Spirit, and it empowers believers to live a life that pleases God and walks in obedience to His will.

The new nature received through the work of the Holy Spirit brings about a fundamental change in the core of our being. It involves a renewal of our minds, a transformation of our desires, and a realignment of our priorities.

The apostle Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This new creation, this new nature, is characterized by righteousness, holiness, and a genuine desire to follow and please God.

This new nature is in direct contrast to our old nature, which was enslaved to sin and self-centred desires. The old nature was marked by rebellion against God and a pursuit of personal gratification.

However, through the work of the Holy Spirit, our old nature is crucified with Christ, and we are made alive in Him (Galatians 2:20).

The Spirit dwells within us, empowering us to live in accordance with our new nature and enabling us to overcome the temptations of the flesh (Romans 8:9-13).

As recipients of this new nature, we are no longer slaves to sin but are set free to live a life that honours God. Our desires begin to align with His desires, and we find joy in obeying His commandments.

The apostle Paul explains in Romans 8:4, “In order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

The Spirit empowers us to live in obedience to God’s will and enables us to bear the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

It is important to note that although we have received a new nature, we still face the ongoing struggle between the flesh and the Spirit (Galatians 5:17).

However, with the Holy Spirit’s help, we can walk in victory over the desires of the flesh and live according to our new nature.

Through prayer, dependence on God’s grace, studying His Word, and fellowship with other believers, we can continually grow in our new nature and experience transformation in every area of our lives.

When we are born again by the Spirit of God, we receive a new nature that desires to please God and obey His will. This new nature enables us to live a life characterized by righteousness and holiness.

With the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, we can walk in victory over the flesh and align our desires with God’s desires.

It is through this new nature that we are empowered to live a life that brings glory to God and reflects the image of Christ in us.

2.  You Have A New Love

One of the signs the Holy Spirit is in you is that you have a new love for God and for others. When the Holy Spirit takes residence within us, He brings about a radical transformation that includes a new love, a love that emanates from the very heart of God Himself.

This new love is not merely an emotion or a sentiment but a deep and profound change in the core of our being. The evidence of this new love is seen in our relationship with God.

Our love for God is no longer superficial or conditional but all-encompassing and sacrificial. We love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, as Jesus commanded (Matthew 22:37).

Our love for God becomes the driving force behind our thoughts, actions, and priorities. We delight in spending time in His presence, worshipping Him, and seeking His will in every aspect of our lives.

This new love for God goes beyond words and rituals; it is a love that is reflected in our obedience to His commands (John 14:15).

We are compelled by love to follow His ways and walk in His truth. We desire to please Him and honour Him with our lives.

Our love for God fuels our pursuit of holiness and righteousness as we long to be more like Him and to bring glory to His name.

Furthermore, this new love extends to our relationships with others. Jesus taught us to love our neighbours as ourselves (Matthew 22:39).

This love encompasses everyone we encounter, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances. It is a selfless love that seeks the well-being and flourishing of others.

We are called to extend kindness, compassion, and forgiveness to those around us, showing them the same love and grace that God has lavished upon us.

In fact, the transformative power of this new love is most evident when it comes to our enemies and those who persecute us.

Jesus commanded us to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us (Luke 6:27-28). This radical love is a powerful testimony to the world and a reflection of the love God has shown us.

It requires us to lay aside our own desires for revenge or retaliation and to respond with grace, forgiveness, and genuine concern for the well-being of those who may oppose or mistreat us.

This new love, instilled in us by the Holy Spirit, is not something we can manufacture or conjure up on our own. It is a supernatural work of God in our hearts, transforming our affections and aligning them with His.

As we grow in our relationship with Him, our love for Him and for others deepens and matures. It becomes a defining characteristic of our lives, drawing people to the love and goodness of God.

The presence of the Holy Spirit within us brings about a new love—a love that encompasses our relationship with God, our interactions with others, and even our response to our enemies.

This is one of the signs the holy spirit is working in you. This love is not superficial but all-encompassing, sacrificial, and transformative.

It compels us to love God with everything we have, to love our neighbours as ourselves, and even to love our enemies. This new love reflects the heart of God and serves as a powerful witness to the world of His unconditional love and grace.

It is not a fleeting emotion, but a steadfast state of being that remains even in the face of trials, challenges, or disappointments. It is a supernatural joy that sustains us through the highs and lows of life.

Unlike worldly happiness that is contingent on favourable circumstances, this new joy is anchored in our unchanging relationship with God.

It is rooted in the knowledge that we are loved by the Creator of the universe, forgiven of our sins, and reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ. This joy stems from the assurance of our salvation and the hope of eternal life in His presence.

The apostle Paul reminds us in Galatians 5:22 that joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. As the Holy Spirit works in us, transforming us into the image of Christ, this joy naturally emerges.

It radiates from within and permeates every aspect of our lives, affecting our attitudes, perspectives, and interactions with others.

This new joy enables us to rejoice in the Lord always, as Paul encourages us in Philippians 4:4. It is not contingent on our circumstances, but it is an expression of our deep-seated trust in God’s goodness, faithfulness, and sovereignty.

We can find joy in knowing that God is with us in every situation, working all things together for our ultimate good (Romans 8:28).

Moreover, this joy is accompanied by a peace that surpasses all understanding, as Paul describes in Philippians 4:7. It is a tranquil state of mind that transcends human comprehension.

It is the peace that comes from surrendering our worries, fears, and anxieties to God and trusting in His perfect plan and provision.

This new joy and peace do not shield us from the challenges of life, but they empower us to navigate them with strength and resilience.

They give us the confidence to face adversity, knowing that we are not alone and that God is working in and through us.

They bring light in times of darkness and serve as a testimony to the world of the transforming power of God’s presence in our lives.

As we cultivate this new joy through our relationship with God, we become beacons of hope and sources of encouragement to those around us.

This peace stems from knowing that we are held securely in the hands of our loving Heavenly Father, who cares for us deeply.

This new peace allows us to surrender our anxieties, worries, and fears to God. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are encouraged to cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us.

The Holy Spirit enables us to release our burdens, knowing that God is our refuge and strength, our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). We can trust Him with every aspect of our lives, knowing that He is faithful and will provide for our needs.

Moreover, this peace is not a passive indifference or a denial of reality but rather a confident assurance that God is working all things for our good.

This new patience enables us to endure hardships and trials with perseverance and hope. James 1:2-4 encourages us to consider it pure joy when we face trials, knowing that the testing of our faith produces perseverance.

Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we develop an enduring spirit that remains steadfast in the face of challenges. We trust in God’s faithfulness and rely on His strength to carry us through difficult seasons.

This patience is not a passive resignation or indifference but an active trust in God’s sovereignty and His perfect timing.

We recognize that God’s plans are higher and greater than our own, and we wait with hope and expectation for His purposes to be fulfilled.

Our patience allows us to rest in God’s guidance and provision, knowing that He is working all things together for our good.

In our interactions with others, we strive to be kind and considerate, choosing our words and actions with wisdom. Ephesians 4:15 encourages us to speak the truth in love.

Our kindness is not a facade that avoids addressing difficult truths, but rather, it is a gentle and caring approach that seeks restoration and growth.

We seek to build up and encourage others through our words and actions, always mindful of the impact they have on those around us.

Furthermore, this new kindness compels us to be generous and share. Acts 20:35 reminds us that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we develop a gentleness that is characterized by humility. We recognize that our worth and significance come from our identity in Christ rather than from any achievements or accolades.

We are not driven by pride or arrogance, but instead, we approach others with a posture of humility and a willingness to consider their needs and perspectives as valuable.

This new gentleness empowers us to treat others with respect, kindness, and compassion. We recognize the inherent worth and dignity of every person, regardless of their background, social status, or beliefs.

We recognize that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19) and that we are called to honour God in all that we do.

This new self-control is exemplified in our thought life. We take captive every thought and bring it under the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

We filter our thoughts through the lens of God’s Word, ensuring that they are aligned with His truth. We guard against negative or destructive thoughts, choosing instead to focus on what is pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

Furthermore, this new self-control governs our words. We think before we speak, weighing the impact of our words on others. Proverbs 16:32 tells us that “better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”

We choose to speak words that build up, encourage, and bring life. We refrain from gossip, slander, or harshness, seeking to use our words to edify and bring healing.

This new self-control also extends to our actions. We resist the impulses of the flesh and the temptations of the world. We are no longer enslaved to sin, for the power of sin has been broken in our lives (Romans 6:14).

This new power is not a power of manipulation or self-aggrandizement but a power that flows from a deep dependence on God. It is a power that is rooted in humility and surrender to His will.

This new wisdom empowers us to make wise and discerning choices. James 1:5 encourages us to ask God for wisdom, and He will generously give it to us. We are able to discern between right and wrong, truth and falsehood, and make decisions that align with God’s will. This wisdom is not based on human intellect or worldly knowledge but is rooted in the divine wisdom of God.

Furthermore, this new wisdom guards us against deception and misleading influences. The Holy Spirit enables us to discern false teachings, distorted ideologies, and deceptive philosophies.

We are equipped to test everything against the truth of God’s Word and to walk in discernment. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 teaches us that the Spirit within us reveals the deep things of God, helping us to discern spiritual truths and to distinguish between the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God.

This new wisdom is not a mere accumulation of knowledge or intellectual prowess but a deep understanding of God’s truth and a practical application of that truth in our daily lives.

The Holy Spirit enables us to pray even when we don’t know how or what to pray for, and He aligns our prayers with God’s purposes.

This new ability to pray is not limited to our own needs and desires but extends to interceding for others. Ephesians 6:18 encourages us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests, interceding for the needs of others.

The Holy Spirit equips us to lift up others in prayer, standing in the gap on their behalf, and seeking God’s intervention and blessing in their lives.

Furthermore, this new ability to pray is marked by a spirit of selflessness and sincerity. We are no longer driven by selfish or vain prayers but are guided by the Holy Spirit to pray in alignment with God’s heart and purposes.

Our prayers are not empty rituals or repetitive phrases, but they are infused with the power of the Holy Spirit as we pray in His leading.

This new ability to pray also transforms us into watchful individuals. We are attentive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, listening for His guidance and direction in our prayers.

We are alert to the needs around us, sensitive to the burdens others carry, and fervent in our intercession. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 exhorts us to pray without ceasing, to be constantly connected to God through prayer, and to be watchful in our prayers.

The impact of this newfound ability to pray is profound. It deepens our relationship with God as we commune with Him in prayer. It invites His presence and power into our lives and the lives of others.

How Does The Holy Spirit Show Itself?

So, how Does the Holy Spirit Show Itself? The Holy Spirit, though invisible, reveals its presence in various ways. Here are some ways in which the Holy Spirit manifests itself:

1.  Through Spiritual Encounters

The Holy Spirit often reveals itself through spiritual encounters, such as moments of profound worship, prayer, or meditation. During these times, you may feel a tangible presence or a deep sense of awe and reverence.

2.  Divine Guidance And Direction

The Holy Spirit guides and directs believers in their lives. It can provide clarity in decision-making, offer solutions to challenges, and bring about a sense of peace and assurance in the midst of uncertainty.

3.  Conviction And Transformation

The Holy Spirit convicts individuals of their sins, bringing about repentance and transformation. It illuminates areas in need of change and empowers individuals to live a life that aligns with God’s will.

4.  Spiritual Gifts And Manifestations

The Holy Spirit bestows spiritual gifts upon believers, empowering them for service and ministry. These gifts can include prophecy, healing, wisdom, discernment, and more.

These manifestations serve as evidence of the Holy Spirit’s active presence within individuals and the larger faith community.

5.  Fruits Of The Spirit

The Holy Spirit produces godly virtues known as the “fruits of the Spirit” within believers. These fruits, such as love, joy, peace, and kindness, are evident in the character and actions of individuals who are led by the Holy Spirit.

6.  Communion With God

The Holy Spirit facilitates communion with God, bridging the gap between the divine and the human. Through the Holy Spirit, believers can experience a deep and intimate relationship with God, sensing His presence and hearing His voice.

As believers, it is important to cultivate a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s presence and work in our lives. By seeking a deeper connection with God, nurturing our spiritual life, and being open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can witness its manifestations and experience the transformative power it brings.

Conclusion

These are some of the signs the Holy Spirit is in you. If you see these signs in your life, then you can be sure that you have the Holy Spirit in you and that He is working in you to make you more like Christ.

If you don’t see these signs in your life, then you need to examine yourself and see if you have truly received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and if you have surrendered your life to Him. If not, then you need to repent of your sins and believe in Him today, and He will give you the gift of the Holy Spirit.

If you have received Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, but you don’t see these signs in your life, then you need to ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit afresh and to help you to walk by the Spirit every day. He will do it as you seek Him with all your heart.

The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to every believer in Jesus Christ. He is the sign that we belong to God and that we have eternal life. He is the source of our new life and our new nature. He is the one who makes us holy and who glorifies Christ in us.

May we always be grateful for the Holy Spirit in us, and may we always cooperate with Him as He works in us for God’s glory? Amen.

Save this for later!

  • This article is spot on with how the Holy Spirit resinates within me, literally word for word in the transformation. When I was about in the third grade, I witnessed the Holy Spirit, lived a life according to God, went astray and was manifested with miracles and prophecies until March 2024 when a literal unknown divine force led me to consistent prayer and daily church attendance. Every church discriminated against me for my appearance versus my spirit and chose not to gather and speak about what I have been taught, experienced, and have even on three occasions shown God’s power within me to the point of fright terming my actions as vudu or being in astonishment and weeping. The Holy Spirit has the ability to bring about compassion and unity amongst all with a new outlook on the meaning of life, centralized on the values in the world and the means by which we interact amongst one another versus economic and financial gains that we currently see as priority (even over our families). It’s beautiful to know that the Spirit works miraculous identical to those who receive the blessing. It’s even more miraculous speaking in over 20 tongues, healing, spiritual force identification, prophecies given, wisdom beyond comprehension provided and just literally every sign that the Spirit is within me. I want that force to return and control me again prior to the people stopping it because of the means of worship didn’t abide by the standard or formal means of praise, whereas it was observed as irregular when I rose my hands up in worship as I prayed Our Father. Thank you for your beautiful composition of means of identification. God Bless You Sister!
