Do you find yourself bothered about whether God is answering your prayers? Do you find yourself searching for signs that God is answering your prayers? Do you pray and feel like the answers you need are not forthcoming?

If yes, here is an article specially for you! As human beings, we are bound to think like human beings, and when we ask for things, we usually expect them immediately.

So when we do not get results from activities we have invested in, we slowly lose interest or conclude that the activity does not work.

But when it comes to God, I assure you that He is listening and also giving you signs that your prayers are heard and answered. When you follow the proper channel and ask rightly through the name of Jesus Christ, God is definitely listening.

Trust me, I know this may take a little more to convince you to wait with God because the answers you seek look far away from you.

But when You receive answers to your prayers, it does not mean God did not answer you when you asked because He did. Have you ever considered it took a while to get to you because God was waiting to deliver the answer at the right time?

Take, for instance, a little child who asked his father to buy a real car for him at the age of 6. The father does not respond to the request and the child goes away without an answer and believes that his father is not capable of answering his request.

The child’s father, however, understands that the child is not ready for the car but begins to save some money in order to buy the child a car in a few years when he will need it.

So, the father goes on to teach the child the ethics of driving from a young age and at the right time, teaches the child how to drive and buys the car for him, thereby answering the request the child made over 10 years ago.

The cute story right? This is how it usually is with God and us, His children. God is our Father and He knows when it is right to give us some answers. When answers come prematurely, it may ruin our lives at that moment or we may not know what to do with the answer.

Being born in a Christian home, gave me the opportunity to learn how to pray from an early age. I would pray and be uncertain as to whether God is listening to my prayers or if He would answer them, but I would pray because I saw others do it.

However, I began to understand better when I turned my life over to God and learned how to really pray. Giving God my life and trusting Him completely to lead me, gave me confidence that God was listening to me and would always answer me even though it doesn’t look like it at the initial.

I began to know the signs that God is saying yes and this helped me relax and worry less! Would you like to worry less and rest in Christ, then trust and know the signs God is answering your prayers? There are many signs, but in this article, you will find 15 signs that God is answering your prayers. First, let’s walk through recognizing the signs that God is answering your prayer.

15 Signs God is Answering Your Prayers

As children of God, it is of utmost importance to understand that God is the creator of the heavens and the earth and so, is not limited in the things that He can do for us. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” Ephesians‬ 3:20‬ (NIV‬).

So even for the things we ask, God will most likely not give us exactly those things. He would give us more because he believes at the right time, you deserve far better than what you asked.

So, do not be in a rush to give up or doubt because, in the end, you will get the results you have been searching for. So if you are asking “how do you know that God is answering your prayers”, you can look out for these 15 signs:‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

1.  Confirmation Through The Scriptures

This is usually one of the signs God is answering your prayers. The scripture is one of the most powerful tools through which God speaks to us. John‬ 1:5‬ (NIV‬‬) says “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

When we pray, we are usually in the dark, that is why we seek answers. And when knowledge comes, then light has come because the word of knowledge from God is a light that shines in the darkness of ignorance.

Oftentimes, when I pray earnestly in order to seek answers from God, I hear in my spirit a Bible verse. Most times, these are not even Bible verses that I may have committed to memory.

Somehow, the spirit of God drops it in my heart and when I open the verse in the Bible, the word I receive is usually related to the challenge I’m facing. (One time, I was conflicted about what to do and whatever action I took at that point would be a crucial one.

I then asked God to help me out and the). When we pray to God, it is important to become sensitive because bible verses can come to mind or you will “stumble” across one that addresses your situation, which would be your answer or a sign that God is answering your prayer.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

2.  Confirmation From Others

The Bible says, “…Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” 2 Corinthians‬ 13:1‬(NIV‬‬). As we have been told, God indeed works in mysterious ways.

Have you ever had a situation you did not tell anyone of, but prayed in your heart, and then, someone comes to speak to you as though they heard you pray? This is a sign! When you pray in silence and in private, God can reveal it to others and give them a word of encouragement for you.

And so you are left wondering who could have told them your situation. Sweetheart, it can only be God. Sometimes, the situation we face and an answer to it may just be mentioned casually in a public gathering or said directly to us. This is a confirmation from God that He has heard your prayers and your answers on the way. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

3.  Confirmation Through Dreams

Another sign that your prayers have been heard and answered is confirmation that we may get from dreams. In our sleep, God is still very much active to give us the answers we require and assuring us that he would bring the answer no matter how long it may seem to take.

He is not limited in the ways he speaks to us or confirms his word to us. So also, when we pray for answers or solutions, let us be sensitive to the dreams that we would have.

If you are the kind to forget your dreams after some time, you could do this: when you wake up, pick a journal and quickly pen down all you can remember. Also thank God for the revelation through the dream and wait for God’s hand.

And if the dream seems too complex and you cannot seem to decipher the meaning. You could do either of these: Meet your pastor or spiritual leader and tell them about the dream.

They may be able to explain what God is saying to you as God may reveal to them. Or you could pray about it and ask God to explain it to you. Either way, God will give you an explanation because he will never leave you confused.

4.  Your Prayer Is According To The Will Of God

The will of God is basically what children of God lean on. As children of God, to know His will, we have to be able to hear from Him. You can study and know the signs that God is actually speaking to you with this intensively compiled article here.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John‬ 5:14‬ (NIV‬‬).

As long as your prayers are in accordance with the will of God, then you can have no worry and be confident that your prayers have been heard and will be answered. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

5.  Peace

The presence of God is like a calming pill for those who trust and obey Him. Have you ever felt so burdened that you begin to pray and when you finish praying, your heart and even body feel lighter than when you started praying? There’s a sudden and special peace that comes with casting all your burdens on God.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew‬ 11:28‬ (NIV‬‬). The word of God has expressly given us access to God and assured us that when we give God our problems, He would in turn give us rest which is peace in our hearts.

This is how you can know that God is answering your prayers. Peace is an immediate response you should look out for if you want to be sure God has answered your prayers.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

6.  Preparation

At the beginning of this article, I gave you a story of a six-year-old child who would ask his father for a car. The father waited till the child was old enough before he bought him the car.

While waiting for the child to grow old enough, the father began to put plans in place such as saving money. Now, this is a preparation towards giving the child his request.

This is how it is with God. When we ask for things from God and it is not the right time to receive those things, God would still be preparing us for when we would receive those things.

If you submit yourself to the process of preparation, you would realize that things begin to fall into place in anticipation of the answers God is bringing to you.

7.  You Are Still Standing

Some challenges that we may face may be like a raging storm. It may look like we would never make it out alive but God is there telling us to remain steadfast and I wavered.

Yes, this is difficult in the face of troubles but just as Peter stood and walked on water, have faith in God that He will lift you above the challenges.

Troubles will come and when we remain on our feet despite the pressure that we may feel, this is a sign that God is answering our prayers. So the situation does not overwhelm you regardless of the force it comes with because you have committed it to God.

And always remember that God is forever walking with you as long as you ask him to. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah‬ 43:2‬ (NIV‬). ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

8.  Contentment

In the same way, you feel peace as a sign God is answering your Prayers, so can you feel contentment. This feeling can come even before you have an idea that your answer or evidence of your answer is around the corner.

Most times it is very strong and overwhelming that you begin to question the source of it. Sweetheart, it is a sign that God has heard your prayers and will definitely answer you.

Having faith in God contributes largely to how you can feel content. This is because, in feeling content, you are telling yourself as well as God that you believe that He has done what you asked for.

9.  People Around You Get Blessed

There is a popular saying in the Christian community that I love so much. It goes, “When you see your neighbor being blessed, rejoice because God is in the neighborhood.

You’re next!”. Situations get tight at some point in our Christian lives and these are times when we pray and crave answers from God.

And when we don’t get our problems solved immediately, we at least want to see signs that our prayers have been heard, as something we can hold onto as hope for better. One sign you can get is from the people around you.

When they begin to experience ease and things are working rightly for them, know that blessings are close to you. So be happy for those who have received it and wait for your turn. God is in the neighborhood and cannot be far from you, so in a short while, the things you have prayed for will come to pass.

10.  Direct Responses

Many times God speaks to us clearly and directly, telling us to wait. God does not ever aim to confuse us. It may not seem logical to us why some things happen, but know that God does not want us confused when we need things from Him.

One of the reasons we get confused is because we ignore the signs being given to us. God usually answers us with a no, yes, or wait. So just like you will wait for a friend whom you requested help from, wait for God to help you.

Do not be in a hurry to conclude that God does not answer you. Pray, wait and you may get clear directions as a sign God is answering your prayers.

11.  Not Getting What You Want

This may get you surprised but calm down and let me explain with a little story. My sister has always wanted to start her own business but could not afford to attend the training.

She turned to God to help her and started to pray that God divinely provided the money or a way for her to start the training. My sister, in the process of praying, told God daily that she did not want a job, she just wanted to start her business.

She would ask God daily to not bother about giving her a job, but the business she desired. One day, she got called to an interview. She was a perfect fit and seemed to over-qualify.

For these reasons, she was not given the job even though the offer looked attractive to her. She felt downcast and cried when she was rejected, but somehow found the strength to tell God that she still puts her trust in Him.

A few days later, she pitched her idea to a potential partner and was given the resources she needed to start her training. Thing is, if she had gotten the job, she may never have bothered to talk to people about her business idea, which is what she really wanted.

Dear friend, God is constantly working in your favor even though it doesn’t seem like it. Always hold close to you Jeremiah‬ 29:11‬ (NIV‬‬) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

When we pray and ask God for things or to solve our problems, He really listens and starts putting plans in place to bring us fulfillment.

Still trust God and believe that not getting what you asked for could be a sign to hold on and wait for God to give you yours. Stay with God!‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

12.  Repetitive Messages

It can get really hard and confusing when you are not sure if God is hearing your prayers, let alone answering them. However, there are signs we get and they may even come repeatedly.

The message God would be trying to pass to you can come directly, through Scripture, sermons, articles, Christian media, or any other means He chooses.

But when He tries to reach us with signs that He is still there and we don’t get, the messages may have to come repeatedly. So are you hearing a particular message over and over again? Does it strike you like it is something God is trying to say to you? Then yes, don’t ignore this as a sign that God is showing you.

13.  The Situation May Get Tougher

Sometimes, a sign that God is answering your prayers could be in how hard the situation you’re praying about can get. When God is planning to answer your prayers, the enemy may try to frustrate the plan.

However, they can only try but will never succeed. “… weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalms‬ 30:5‬ (NIV‬). Dear friend, don’t be discouraged, this is a sign that your morning is coming.

Remember, it is in the darkest hour that morning comes. So when things get tougher, it is usually a sign that what you are looking for is close to you.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

14.  Joyful Spirit

The Bible says “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy” Psalms‬ 126:5‬ (NIV‬‬). A joyful heart and spirit is often that which has received good news or a gift.

Remember the last time you were given something or you were expecting something good? How did you feel? Did you act as though it was already in your hand? If yes, that is the exact feeling you get when you ask God for something and you believe strongly that it is coming.

But in this case, the joy you feel is usually not of your own accord, you just feel happy unconsciously despite the challenges that may be surrounding you. This is another sign God is answering your prayers. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

15.  You Are Thankful

Many times we are told to be thankful to God regardless of the situations we are faced with. This is because appreciating God before your answers come shows Him that you trust in him.

However, when you are thankful as a sign God is answering your prayers, you may not even be consciously thanking Him. The urge to be grateful and express your gratitude will come heavily upon you and you will find yourself praising and thanking God even in the midst of the storm that is trying to drown you.

This sign comes from within you as it is a conviction that God has already even done what you prayed for even though you cannot see the results yet, you remain grateful.

So, if you have had to ask yourself how you would know God would answer your prayers, I’m glad you found this article and I hope it would help you understand the signs that you have been getting and probably, ignoring. God is ready to answer your prayers and would give you everything you ask for as long as it is good for you.

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew‬ 7:11‬(NIV‬‬).

There are many other signs God is answering your prayers. You would know when you are sensitive after you have asked. Be steadfast and stay blessed!‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
