How To Spread The Gospel And Be An Ambassador For Christ

Sharing is caring!

Learning and knowing how to spread the Gospel should be the primary goal of every believer. The moment we accept the message of the Gospel, we automatically have an obligation to spread the Gospel.

We were given salvation to share with the world and not to hoard it, so it is our responsibility as Christians to know how to share the Gospel to unbelievers.

So we must be willing to take steps and learn how to spread the Gospel, not just how to share the Gospel with family alone, but we should go out there, go far beyond cross-cultural and geographical boundaries, to spread the Gospel across different nations, tribes, and people, telling them about the great love of God that is made manifest in Christ.

Therefore, we all Christians should prioritize learning and knowing how to share the Gospel with unbelievers; we should always be ready, always prepare, and equip ourselves. We should learn and know how to share the Gospel in 5 minutes.

To know how to spread the Gospel, we don’t need to have a degree from a Theological Seminary or take a lesson on Biblical Hebrew and Greek, or fully understand every doctrine in the scriptures (although having this knowledge is good in itself), but the most important thing we need we already have, and that is the Hoy Spirit.

Knowing how to spread the Gospel is obeying one of the most outstanding commands of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Bible (Matthew 28: 19 – 20), and as a matter of truth, spreading the Gospel is all there is to the Christian life.

We are all called into the ministry of reconciliation (2Corinthians 5: 11 – 21) to minister to humanity and reconcile people back to God.

The way to do this is by sharing the message of the Gospel. We all should learn and know how to spread the Gospel wherever we find ourselves, learn how to share the Gospel online, share it on different social media platforms, and share the Gospel over text by using bulk SMS platforms. Jesus said ‘greater things shall ye do’ in John 14: 12.

This is because He knew we would have more advanced means to cover more grounds in spreading the gospel message than He did because He only covered some areas in Israel, but we are to spread the gospel message worldwide. The command is going ye to all nations (Matthew 28: 19 – 20).

So we should have the burning desire as believers to devise means on how to spread the Gospel; we should be very passionate about how to spread the Gospel to unbelievers so that we can fulfill God’s command. Before we go further, let’s briefly discuss how to spread the Gospel.

How To Spread The Gospel

If you want to know how to spread the Gospel, to spread the Gospel is to preach and proclaim the message of the Gospel to the unbelieving ones, using every possible means to make sure the message of Christ has been passed along to people.

It is to proclaim the news in words and action and show kindness and love to people. You can also meet people and discuss Christ with them one on one. You can also spread the Gospel by sharing tracts and spirit-filled messages.

But to do this, you must first allow the announcement of the Gospel to reach you, to penetrate your heart, which implies that you must be born-again because you cannot give what you don’t have.

When you become born-again, the Holy Spirit will provide you with the enabling power to spread the Gospel. The Holy Spirit will help you speak the right words as you preach and proclaim the truth about God. In view of trying to state a practical example, let’s briefly discuss how do I share the Gospel on social media?

How Do I Share The Gospel On Social Media?

You may sometimes ask yourself, how do I share the Gospel on social media, where do I begin, what will I do. To share the Gospel on social media is to go on a social media platform and drop the gospel message about Christ. Try to make it brief, simple, and straight to the point.

Not too much long petty talk. Just go straight and tell people about the love of God that brings salvation to humanity. And depending on the social media platform, some are just about short video clips, and some it’s both videos and write-ups.

Whichever way they operate, use it and share the Gospel. For example, you can drop a short video clip of your own and says things like, “Hey you, yes you, I’m talking to you.

I just want you to know that Jesus loves you, so He died to save you from death, and He wants to have a relationship with you,” or you can share short video clips of spirit-filled messages too, or you can equally write a brief letter and share.

I want you to also keep in mind that you might not be getting plenty of likes and attention, but the people God wants to use that message to reach out to will get the news.

And you should also put on an emotional amour because people will undoubtedly want to play with your emotions, so you should be prepared and be patient with people. Remember, you were once like them, and the power of the Gospel transformed you. So let’s briefly discuss what the Gospel is?

What Is The Gospel?

What is the Gospel? A question I’ve been asked on different occasions, and like I always reply, the Gospel is the good news about the salvation of humanity that was accomplished by the finished work of Christ on the cross.

However, the term gospel is also used to refer to the first four books in the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and the entire message of the Bible.

But it is because the story in these books directly talks about the life and works of Jesus Christ, and the whole message of the Bible is centered on Christ.

To take it further, the word gospel as written in the Bible (Matthew 4: 23; 9: 35) is from the Greek word ‘euangelion,’ meaning good news in the sense of information that is too good to be true.

The history behind this word is that it was a word mainly used to bring the report of victory from a battle that they’ve lost hope of winning.

So the Gospel of Christ is about the message that brings grace and salvation to a race of beings that is doomed, heading to her destruction, and has lost all hope of any kind. And this will bring us to the next subtopic of our discussion, which is the power of the Gospel.

The Power Of The Gospel

Romans 1: 16a (NIV) ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…’ the power of the Gospel is that it saves a sinner from sin unto righteousness and holiness.

Preaching the Gospel is like announcing and declaring the power of God, and whoever believes it gets saved instantly.
God exercises His saving power through the Gospel and brings all who believe into salvation.

It is God’s agency to do the work of salvation in the life of any that considers. The power of the Gospel also gives us the ability to live righteously. It reveals the righteousness of God to us and makes us live a righteous life through faith in Christ.

Romans 1: 17 (NIV) ‘For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

The power of the Gospel is the righteousness of God in the Gospel that has been revealed whenever we preach it. In 1Corinthians 2: 4 – 5 (NIV), ‘My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.’

This means the power in the Gospel is not based on how persuasive we are, but rather it is because the Gospel is the revelation of God’s power, the revelation of God’s righteousness that transforms a sinner. Haven has Seen all of these. Let us now look at how to spread the Gospel in 15 ways.

How To Spread The Gospel – 15 Ways

1.  Open-Air Preaching

Open-air preaching and proclamation of the Gospel is like the most popular and known means on how to spread the Gospel.

Though it’s difficult for some shy believers, we should have in mind what 2 Timothy 1: 7 – 8a ‘For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord….’

So we should stand out, boldly preach and proclaim the Gospel. To do this, we should go out to public places with a public address system and spread the Gospel of God’s saving grace to the world.

2.  One-On-One Evangelism

One-on-one evangelism is another means by which we can also spread the Gospel. This is going out to streets or public places to meet people one-on-one and then engage them in a discussion about Christ and the Gospel.

Though you might not give much attention to yourself because some people might likely want to turn you down, be rest assured that if Mr. A or Miss A turns you down, try B, C, and D. keep on trying, and God will bring or lead you to the right person that needs to hear the message. We should not let the fear of failure and rejection make us not obey God’s command.

3.  Sharing Of Tracts

We can spread the Gospel by sharing gospel tracts. Gospel tracts are like the living seeds of the word of God, and it contains a clear and concise message of the Gospel.

So with tract evangelism, believers who are shy about sharing their faith can get involved in tract evangelism to spread the Gospel. We may never know how far tract evangelism can go, but it is an effective means of spreading the Gospel.

4.  Through Our Lifestyle

As much as we are to spread the Gospel with words, our lifestyle can also be a key to spreading the Gospel. This is done when we practice what we preach and when our lifestyle portrays the message of the Gospel.

For example, when we show love to people in kindness, longsuffering, faithfulness, endurance, and the like, we can, through the Christian lifestyle, tell people about Christ and His love for all and how following Christ has made us know how to love genuinely. This is a means of spreading the Gospel.

5.  Wear T-Shirts With Gospel Message Prints On Them

There is what is called T-shirt evangelism. When the clothing we put on plays a strategic role in spreading the Gospel, we can use our t-shirts to become a medium, like a walking signpost or billboard with short gospel messages or short scriptures to reach out to people. The message of Christ behind our t-shirts can cause someone to rethink and come to Christ.

6.  By Showing Kindness To Unbelievers

Another message of practicing what you preach is to show kindness to unbelievers, which can be a means of spreading the Gospel. Mark Twain said kindness is the language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

By this, he means kindness is by actions, and everybody gets to understand the message. Showing kindness is doing what is suitable towards an unbeliever irrespective of their response, but you remain nice to them.

Showing kindness as a believer reflects the nature of Christ in you, and when Christ is revealed, the Gospel plays out the gospel spreads.

7.  Through Social Media

As Christians, we should always use whatever means we have to spread the Gospel, including social media. Whatever platforms we subscribe to, let sharing the Gospel be one of the primary reasons we should even subscribe to any forum.

Remember spreading or sharing the Gospel is not a choice. It is a command, and the order is to preach the Gospel to all nations and wherever we find ourselves.

So if we happen to be on a social media platform where we know others are, let us use that medium to spread the Gospel. Drop short and concise messages, Bible verses, and short video clips, and always try to spread the Gospel daily.

8.  Always Season Your Conversation With The Gospel

Colossians 4: 6 (NIV) ‘let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.’ Any conversation about the Gospel is a grace-filled conversation and can also spread the Gospel.

Instead of engaging people in senseless debate about frivolities of life that can disrupt your emotions and cause strife, why not season your conversations with the Gospel.

It would be best if you hurt them with the message of the Gospel rather than debating about something else that does not matter. As believers, let us prioritize always sharing the Gospel rather than engaging in unnecessary arguments.

9.  Through Sending Bulk SMS To Your Contact List

Sending out bulk SMS can be a means of sharing and spreading the Gospel. It is like tract evangelism, only that in this case, you can do it where ever you are and reach out to many people without even meeting them in person.

We can do this by subscribing to any of the bulk SMS platforms, and we can write out a short, succinct message of the Gospel and send it out through bulk SMS.

10.  Be Outspoken And Open With Your Faith

Being outspoken and open with your Christian faith can be a means of spreading the Gospel. It is okay always to be outspoken, open with what you believe, and hold on to it.

But it is unfortunate that the world today has emotionally bullied and blackmails many of us Christians into being shy and discreet about our Christian faith.

We should always announce why we are the way we are, as we do it in actions, let us also do it in words, let people know the reason you do what you do, that it is not by your power or ability, but it is by the working of the Holy Spirit in you. Doing this is also spreading the Gospel to people around you.

11.  Seize Every Opportunity To Discuss Christ

Wherever you find yourself, maybe in a public setting, like in a bus or train when on transit, or maybe by eventuality you find yourself in a place where you are opportune to have a conversation with someone or a group of people, always strife to make sure that in one way or the other, you seasoned the conversation with the Gospel.

You may be discussing politics, you can use that opportunity to remind the person that no government in this world will ever be perfect, so there will always be troubles in this world, and the only place we can find peace is in Christ Jesus.

If it is about entertainment and sports, you can as well tell them that true happiness is only in Christ Jesus and not in worldly amusement. Always find a way to seize every opportunity to discuss Christ.

12.  Share The Testimony Of Your Salvation In Christ

A personal testimony of our salvation in Christ can be a suitable means to share the Gospel. It is a story of how Christ has changed your life and gave you a brand new life, eternal life.

You can tell people what you were and what you are now, how Christ has transformed you and given your life meaning, and how you currently live for something more meaningful than your previous life.

This is an excellent way to spreading the Gospel to the world because those who knew you will bear witness to it too.

13.  Going Out For Morning Cry

Morning cry is to wake up early in the morning to go out to the street with a mobile public address system to preach and proclaim the Gospel of Christ. It is one of the most common, effective, and popular ways to spread the Gospel.

However, today it is more common in Africa and Nigeria precisely because this might not be allowed in some western world today because someone might call the police and report you for disturbing the peace of the neighborhood early in the morning.

Still, it is proven to be an effective means of spreading the Gospel. If this cannot work in your geographical location because of the law of the land, you can try the next one, which is door-to-door evangelism.

14.  Door-To-Door Evangelism

Door-to-door evangelism is moving from one house to another to spread the Gospel of Christ.

You go straight to someone’s home, knock on the door, any little attention is given to you by the person you just quickly and briefly drop the message of the Gospel.

Suppose the person gives you the attention and permits you to continue, fine and good. You now take your time to elaborate on the message of the Gospel, but still, go straight to the point, but just free share the gospel message.

But if you are not given attention, you already know the little time you got. You have already dropped a note.

That is why you have to be prepared to learn how to share the Gospel in 5 minutes. So door-to-door or house-to-house evangelism is also an effect on how to spread the Gospel.

15.  By Engaging In Meaningful Debates About Christ

One of the ways on how to spread the Gospel is by engaging in meaningful debates about Christ. This is to engage atheists, agnostics, and those in that category in a meaningful debate, not for polemics but for the sole reason of sharing the Gospel with them.

This is also one of the means of spreading the Gospel. Now the reason why I brought this to the bottom is that it is not for everybody.

I’ll say it’s mainly for those who are well trained or well skilled on issues like this. For those who know their onus on theological doctrine. For those who can rightly divide the word of truth.

If you give yourself to prayers, studying, and meditating on the word, you can be that kind of person. This will build and equip you for such a task.

If you want to know how to study and meditate on the word of God, look out for these two articles on our blog, how to study the Bible and how to meditate on God’s word effectively.

The great commission is not an option as a Christian, and it is a command; hence we don’t have a choice but to obey, and as a matter of fact, we were saved to share and save others. Therefore, we should spread the Gospel with every available means and media and where ever we find ourselves.

Save this for later!
