1. Be Governed By The Word

The word of God will keep you walking straight and guard you against all forms of temptation. Therefore, the first key that will keep you out of the grasp of the enemy is to be ruled by the Word. This means keeping the word in the middle of your life and in the centre of everything that you do.
Let every aspect of your life be based upon and filtered through the reality of this word. This is because God’s word converts your soul and keeps you from sinning against the Lord.

2. Partner With The Holy Spirit

Submitting ourselves to God also means we must be willing to give up everything for Him and follow Him. Jesus tells us, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23)
Denying ourselves can be challenging in a self focused world; however, we can with God’s help.
Submitting ourselves to God does not mean we have one foot in the door of following Jesus and one foot out of the door of following ourselves. We must go all in and follow Jesus completely.
5. Embrace Humility
The fifth tip on how to resist the devil is to embrace humility. Humility is an essential virtue we all need to resist temptation from the devil.
Humility helps us recognize our limits and strengths and be grateful for what we have. It also helps us detach ourselves from worldly desires so that we can focus on obtaining heavenly treasures.
Humility means being aware of our mistakes, weaknesses, and limitations without judging ourselves or others. We should not see humility as a weakness but rather as a strength; it will help us overcome temptation by reminding us of our faults and imperfections.
One of the ways the devil keeps us in bondage is when we live in pride. 1 Peter 5:5-6 says, “All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”
God opposes the proud. Pride is one of the ways we give the devil a place in our lives. At its core, pride is putting oneself in the place of God.
It is taking God off the throne and putting yourself on the throne, making yourself an idol. Let me give three particular ways that our pride puts ourselves in God’s place: We refuse to acknowledge our dependence upon God.
Pride is a refusal to acknowledge your dependence upon God, but instead is a dependence upon oneself, an attitude of self-sufficiency. It is the failure to realize that you would not be able to take a single breath if God did not allow you to live.
It is refusing to give credit to God for what we are and do, thinking that your abilities and accomplishments are your own and not a gracious gift from God. In all, pride is a tool the devil uses to work in us and entrap us. This is why one of the ways on how to resist the devil is to have a heart of humility.
6. Live Prepared
Another way on how to resist the devil is to live prepared and ready for warfare. Christianity is a spiritual warfare, so it is important to live ready. Therefore, one way to guard against temptations is to prepare for warfare.
It’s important to have your armour on at all times. The devil will try and pull you into sin, so it’s important that you stay strong with God and don’t give in. As Christians, we are called to be instruments of righteousness.
The Bible says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, and wicked spirits in high places. So it is important we live prepared for battle always!
7. Maintain Your Relationship With God
A relationship with God is one of life’s most important things; resisting temptation requires a strong bond with him.
Unfortunately, the devil only wants you to do two things: be miserable and break your relationship with God.
That’s why it’s so important to stay close to God, read His Word and allow Him into every area of your life. When you maintain a good relationship with God, it will be easier for you to resist temptations and focus on doing what is right. It may take time but resisting temptation can bring great rewards!
A strong relationship with God takes time, effort, and a desire for intimacy to cultivate and maintain. Likewise, a relationship with God requires effort and dedication, just like relationships with others do.
Making that effort frequently results in a stronger sense of inner peace, compassion, and love.
Anyone can improve himself and his attitude in life by pursuing this relationship and maintaining it regularly. So spend some time growing your relationship with God to benefit from it.
8. Maintain A Consistent Prayer Life
Another way on how to resist the devil is to maintain a consistent prayer life. Prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have.
Spending time talking with God also opens up an opportunity for Him to work through us and make a difference in the world around us.

You must have faith in order for your Christian life to be victorious. Faith means believing in things that are not seen and trusting God no matter what happens. The Bible says, Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Living a life of faith is important to resist the devil. Faith in Jesus and His power will strengthen you against temptation. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
