Knowing how to have faith in God completely is an important attitude for every Christian. In order to do this, one must first learn the ways and steps of building faith and trust in God.

Learning how to believe in God is the first step while having complete faith in God is the next; which is an act or process of exercising the steps already learnt. However, since these are like two peas in a pod, they can be gainfully merged to achieve the faith goal.

The faith goal is mandatory in the lives of every Christian because believing in Jesus gives us automatic access to God. But do you believe in the access that you have to God?

Faith is not only necessary for when situations get rough, it is important in order for you to be able to unlock several dimensions of God. Learning and knowing how to have faith in God has the capability of changing your life.

What Does It Mean To Have Faith In God?

Oftentimes, we ask questions such as; “What does it mean to have faith in God?”. Well, in simple terms, it means trusting and believing him. It also means that God is our first resort in whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Many times, children of God unconsciously assign God the back seat in their lives and run to Him when every other form of “tangible” help has failed. We do this by approaching situations with human understanding and strength. T

The Bible says in Proverbs‬ 3:5‬-6 (NIV‬‬) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This verse from the book of wisdom is a promise that as long as we know how to have faith in God’s plans then we rest assured and good to go. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Therefore, to have faith in God means that we turn our lives and entire existence into the hands of God without fear or doubt. And that in every situation, good or bad, we will still trust God.

How Do I Get More Faith In God?

As Christians, sometimes we may feel like our faith is not enough and wonder “how do I get more faith in God?”.What you should know is that in our journey with Christ, everything is a process.

There certainly will be ups and downs but the key is to continue trusting. This can help you strengthen your faith in God as you draw closer to God.

Drawing closer to God may seem difficult for you, but I have a well-detailed article on steps you can take to bring you closer to God, here:

You can also strengthen your faith by being totally honest with God, letting go of fear, and accepting God’s lordship over your life.

Why Is It Hard To Have Faith In God?

You may want to know “Why is it hard to have faith in God?”Dear friend, most times, it is hard to have faith in God because we believe the solution to the challenge at hand is impossible. As human beings, we face different challenges and fight different battles, but trusting God makes you feel more at ease.

Granted, some situations may be unnecessarily tight and stubborn and so, fill our hearts with doubts. In the face of such challenges, it may get hard to have faith in God.

However, the difficulty in having faith comes when a child of God has not committed their ways entirely to God. This way, you may still have other options aside from God, whereas, God should be your first and only option. With God, nothing can be impossible, and exercising a little faith can push the hand of God to turn things around for you.

9 Ways To Have Faith In God Completely

There are 9 effective ways to have faith in God that this article will provide you.

However, there are many other ways that you can look into or discover on your quest to learn how to have faith in God. As promised, here are nine guaranteed ways to build your faith in God:

1.  Prayer

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians‬ 4:6‬ (NIV‬‬). Obeying God’s commandments strictly requires the greatest amount of faith. And the word of God has commanded us to pray.

You may have heard that prayer is the master key a thousand times since you started walking with Christ. When I pray, I see it as an act of talking to my insanely wealthy and influential father.

So I pray with confidence that God is there and my answers will come, regardless of time. Nevertheless, did you know it is also possible to ask God for faith? Yes, it is! When you do not know how to have faith in God when everything is going wrong, you can ask God to increase your faith so you can stay steadfast.

And if praying seems like a challenge to you, you can read this article: (insert here), which would teach you how to pray better as a Christian.‬‬‬‬

2.  Learning To Wait

To be able to wait before God, our hearts must be willing and trusting. Many times when we ask God for answers, he says answers with yes, no, or waits. In a situation where the answer to a pressing situation is “wait”, do you really wait or do you start exploring other possible alternatives that you think would be faster?

God does not tell you to wait as a way of punishing you, rather, He wants you to hold on till the best matures for you. Doubting God would have us disobey Him while waiting on God will teach us how to have faith in God.

The Bible talks about Hannah who was childless for many years and people began to call her barren. She had faith in God, so every year during Shiloh, she kept coming back to Him to ask, until the day she received her answer.

The child she bore, Samuel, is still one of the most talked-about prophets of God. Her answer did not just come, it came with extra blessings. Dear friend, when you know how to wait on God, you will know how to have faith in God.

3.  Knowing The Word

Usually, we talk about studying the word of God and meditating on it at all times. However, many Christians actually study the word but do not know it on a personal level. When we study the word, we may study it in general or even as a story.

But do you make it personal? Do you make the scriptures about you and build a deeper relationship with what the Bible is saying to you? Are you getting unique and personal revelations as they may pertain to you?

When you seek how to have faith in God, you should seek a deeper understanding of the word and run with it. To find more knowledge on how to study the word effectively, here is an article that would make it simpler for you: (insert link).

For “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans‬ 10:17‬ (NIV‬‬).‬‬‬‬‬

4.  Obeying God

Are you the type of Christian that hesitates when God sends you? Do you pause to think after God has said ”move” or “go”? Do you try to be logical with God? Learning how to have faith in God is not the easiest of things to do.

When you trust God, you cannot be logical with him. You can hardly ever understand what God is preparing you for and where he would be leading you may seem dark. But always know that God acts in our best interest, so he will never ever lead you to danger.

When God told Moses to cast his rod towards the Red Sea, he could have analyzed or ignored the instruction. But he did it without hesitation and a path was made in the sea such that there was even dry land to walk on.

Amazing right? Moses asked God for help but he still had the choice to disobey, instead, he did not and God made a way. “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” James‬ 1:6‬ (NIV‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

5.  Let Go Of Doubt

One important theory that I have learnt in life is that to make room for something, you may have to let go of another thing. When you take a look at doubt practically, you will realize that letting go can be more difficult than holding on.

As humans, we are not immune to doubt but what we can do is learn how to have faith in God completely. To do this effectively, we have to learn to handle doubt by letting go of it completely. This will then create room for faith to abide.

Faith and doubt cannot live in the same mind, because one would surely override the other. Therefore, If you become conscious of the doubt that resides in your mind, it would then make it easier to dispel it and receive faith.

“Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” Matthew‬ 21:21‬ (NIV‬).

6.  Fellowship With Brethren

Keeping ourselves busy by engaging in spiritual fellowship with our brethren in Christ helps us to strengthen our faith. As often as possible, it is important to be in the midst of people who have a common faith and goal in Christ.

This way, you can lean on one another and help each other to stay steadfast. “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,” Psalms‬ 1:1‬ (NIV‬‬).

The Bible encourages us as children of God, to surround ourselves with Godly people and counsel. Especially in low times, our company can determine the outcome of the situation. Therefore, if you stay around Godly people, be assured your situation can turn out glorious.

7.  Make Godly Affirmations

As flimsy as affirmations may sound to you, I tell you, they work miracles when done in the right way. Some time ago, my siblings and I were at a bad place in life and we began to lose faith in God.

We always pray together but we became draggy when it was time to pray together or even personally. Fellowshipping with God which we used to enjoy became a chore and we all began to feel lost.

One day, we talked and intentionally prayed to God about our situation and asked for help. We then decided to write a list of affirmations of faith in God which we said together every morning. This helped us understand that “…we live by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians‬ 5:7‬ (NIV‬‬). Personally, I started learning how to have faith in God again and with the changes I saw, I knew God was restoring faith to me.

Dear friend, push further and remind yourself daily that Faith in God is paramount. You can also make a list of Faith related affirmations that you would like to remember as you go about your daily activities and all will be well!‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

8.  Surround Yourself With Positive Thoughts

Having positive thoughts has often been associated with psychology.

However, this is a very spiritual exercise.“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.”Philippians‬ 4:8‬ (NKJV).

This Bible verse encourages us to think positively at all times. To focus our thoughts only on things that are of good report and meditate on them. In doing this, we can build our faith and become better in how we trust in God and His words for us.

9.  Act Like You Have Received Answers

One of the greatest shows of Faith is to act like you have received what you asked for. This shows God that you believe in him and that you are certain that He would answer when you call. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hebrews‬ 11:1‬ (NIV‬‬). When you go by the definition of faith given in the Bible, then you will really understand what it is to act like your blessings are already in your hands even before you get a sign that it is on their way.

So, when you ask God for something, avoid being worried and give thanks to God as the answer has already come to your hands.

Generally, having faith in God should be the way of life of a child of God. But in this Christian journey, be rest assured that the enemy would try to raise his head by putting fear and doubt in your heart.

Also learn to be sensitive to the vices of the enemy as this will allow you to exercise faith daily and more intentionally. As you learn to have faith, you can also learn how to encourage someone to have faith in God. This helps us all to overcome together as one people.

Save this for later!
