Benefits of serving God

You may ask, what are the benefits of serving God? And serving God has many benefits. While serving God faithfully can be challenging, it can enrich your life in many ways.

As a believer, serving God is one of the most important things you can do as part of your spiritual devotion.

However, serving God comes with some pretty fantastic perks, so in this article, we will consider some of these blessings of serving God with a list of my top 10 favorites.

10 Benefits Of Serving God Faithfully

The benefits of serving God are innumerable and far-reaching, but here are some of them.

1.  Developing Strong And Unshakable Faith

One of the benefits of serving God is that it helps develop strong and unshakable faith. It is easy to become distracted and discouraged in life, but our faith will remain strong when we focus on God.

As we serve God, we learn more about Him and His character, which grows our faith. Seeing how He works in our lives and the world around us can also deepen our faith.

Sometimes, when things don’t go according to plan, we lose faith in ourselves and any potential outcome. Failure will do that to you. When we experience loss in life, it’s easy to lose hope and faith. But one benefit of serving God is that our faith is developed.

When our faith is unshaken, impossibility becomes possible. When circumstances seem hopeless, faith helps people through it. It will be challenging to explain how they were possible physically, but in the eyes of faith, nothing is impossible!

The Bible in Matthew 17:20 says, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

2.  Connecting With Like-minded Believers

One of the best things about serving God is that you get to connect with other like-minded believers. When you serve alongside other Christians, you can form strong bonds and friendships that last a lifetime.

Plus, having someone to pray with and talk to about your faith is always lovely. This creates genuine companionship and brotherhood that often lasts a lifetime. This is one of the benefits of serving God in your youth.

This can also bring you more joy in your day-to-day life. When you’re serving alongside other believers, it’s natural to want to share with them what makes you happy.

They’ll be able to offer encouragement and provide a listening ear when you need it most. You can grow spiritually by learning from one another as well.

Through being involved in service groups at church or in your neighborhood, you might learn about people in need around you that can benefit from your help and support!

3.  Contribute To Advancing The Kingdom Of God

Benefits of serving God

One of the benefits of serving God is that you get to be part of advancing His Kingdom. As a follower of Christ, you have the unique opportunity to be used by God to impact the world around you for His glory.

The truth is there is no greater honor than contributing to the expansion of God’s kingdom. In Matthew 6: 9 – 10, Jesus taught his disciples the relevance of advancing the kingdom of God.

The Bible says; So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’

To pray Thy Kingdom come means to invite God’s will in the world and to be open to what God wants for your life. It is also looking forward to Jesus’ second coming to establish God’s reign fully. It’s a prayer that summarizes the Bible and what God wants to do on the earth.

As a follower of Christ, you can be used by God to impact your local community. You can use the gifts and talents He has given you to advance His kingdom and make a difference in people’s lives.

This benefit might sound out of reach for many people, but it doesn’t need to be complicated or stressful. We can take advantage of many opportunities in our day-to-day lives if we’re open to them.

For example, if you’re at work with someone who needs prayer or needs someone to listen, don’t wait – go ahead and do it! You never know what might happen in response; it could lead to more opportunities down the road!

Another area where this applies is networking. Networking includes being intentional about meeting new people and seeking connections to grow personally and professionally.

This could also extend spiritually. Again, this doesn’t need to be complicated or intimidating as long as you’re willing to put yourself out there!

4.  Divine Protection And Preservation

One of the most tangible benefits of serving God is His divine protection and preservation. When we trust Him and live according to His will, He promises to protect us from harm. He is a shield around us, preserving us from evil.

This doesn’t mean that bad things will never happen to us, but it does mean that we can rest assured knowing that God is in control and will work everything out for our good.

Many verses talk about this, including Psalm 37:25, I have been young and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread. (ESV)

Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God’ (ESV).

As a further extension of His divine protection, God promises to meet our basic needs. He will always provide for our essential requirements—food, clothing, and shelter—so we never have to worry about that.

These are also backed up by scriptures such as Deuteronomy 28:1-2, The Lord will surely bless you in all you do. You will prosper when you are doing what is right (NIV).

Matthew 6:33, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (NIV). Philippians 4:19; My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (ESV).

When you serve the Lord, you can be confident that He will protect and preserve you and your family. This is one of the benefits of serving God as a family. God is your refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Because you belong to Him, He watches over you. He will never let anything harm you (Psalm 121:7). The Lord is your shield, and His faithfulness will safeguard you from all evil (Proverbs 30:5). You can rest assured that as long as you serve Him. He will keep you safe from all harm.

5.  Becoming More Like Jesus

Benefits of serving God

One of the benefits of serving God is that it aligns our hearts and minds with His will for our lives. This naturally results in us becoming more like Jesus. We learn to love and care for others more deeply. We grow in our faith and trust in God.

We develop a closer relationship with God. We find true meaning and purpose in life. We receive guidance, strength, and wisdom from God. Our lives are transformed, and we become new creatures in Christ.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf profoundly said, “to follow Christ is to learn from His character. As spirit children of our Heavenly Father, we do have the potential to incorporate Christlike attributes into our life and character.

The Savior invites us to learn His gospel by living His teachings. To follow Him is to apply correct principles and then witness for ourselves the blessings that follow.”

Becoming like Christ is a lifelong process, and dedicating our lives to His service allows us to become like Jesus daily.

6.  Experience Of Miracles

One of the benefits of serving God is that you experience miracles in your life. Miracles are a regular occurrence when you trust God and allow Him to lead the way. Miracles are events that happen that defy the laws of nature.

They are a manifestation of the power of God. Therefore, when you live your life in service to the Lord, expect to see miracles happen in your life. The Bible is full of stories where people were in a desperate situation but then experienced a miracle that saved them.

In many cases, people were saved from an untimely death or had an ailment healed by God. The same power of healing and deliverance can be experienced by anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and seeks His face.

A key to experiencing miracles is a close relationship with Jesus Christ. When you serve God, you can expect your faith in Him to grow stronger and stronger. As your faith grows, so will your understanding of His power and presence.

You will have an increased capacity for joy and a feeling of inner peace as you receive manifestations of His love, mercy, and power daily.

And when trials come, you can rely on Him to provide comfort and help, far exceeding anything you could imagine or accomplish on your own.

7.  Spiritual Gifts Are Discovered And Developed

Benefits of serving God

One of the benefits of serving God is that He will help you discover and develop your spiritual gifts. After all, He is the one who gave them to you! So ask Him to reveal your gifts to you if you’re unsure what your gifts are.

As you use your gifts to serve others, you’ll find that they grow and become more refined. There’s no better way to bless yourself than by blessing others.

Discovering and developing your spiritual gifts isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes time, practice, and patience. But as you do so, you’ll see it lead to a deeper relationship with God.

You’ll also find that others are drawn to you as a result. They like knowing they can rely on you to pray for them or help them when needed. When you serve God in a way that is natural for you, He’ll bless your efforts!

8.  Finding And Fulfilling Your Purpose

One of the most significant benefits of serving God is finding your purpose in life. Knowing why you’re here and what you’re supposed to do gives your life meaning and direction. The power to fulfill your purpose comes from God.

He gives you the strength, wisdom, and resources you need to accomplish what He’s called you to do. But, as you seek His purpose for your life, remember that you won’t always know what it is.

Many great men and women in the Bible struggled with not knowing what their purpose was. However, God still used them to accomplish His will. Sometimes we won’t see why we’re struggling or why our path seems more demanding than others.

The point is to trust that He will use our struggles to build us up so we can serve Him when our purpose is revealed. What we learn through trials shapes who we are and strengthens us into more capable servants of Christ.

9.  Enhances Spiritual Growth

One of the benefits of serving God is that it enhances your spiritual growth. When you dedicate your time and energy to serving others, you also grow in your faith. This can lead to a deeper understanding and connection with God.

Additionally, service can help you develop vital spiritual qualities such as patience, kindness, and humility. The more time you spend focused on what matters most, the more you will grow spiritually.

When you serve God, you grow closer to Him. You learn more about His character and what He desires for your life. As you draw near Him, He reveals more of Himself to you and gives you a greater understanding of His will.

Serving God also strengthens your faith and deepens your trust in Him. Your relationship with Him becomes stronger as you work through the challenges that come up in your life.

10.  Character Development

Lastly, to add to the list of the benefits of serving God is character development. God’s end goal for your life on earth is that you feel comfortable and develop as a person. He wants you to grow up spiritually and be like Christ.

However, to become like Christ does not mean that you have to lose your individuality or become someone completely new. On the contrary, God made you unique, so he doesn’t want to destroy it.

Christlikeness is all about transforming your character, not your personality.

God wants you to develop the kind of character described in the Beatitudes of Jesus, the fruit of the Spirit, Paul’s great chapter on love, and Peter’s list of the characteristics of effective and productive life (Matthew 5:1-12; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Corinthians 13; 2 Peter 1:5-8).

You will become frustrated whenever you forget that character is one of God’s purposes for your life.

Why Is Serving God Important?

Do you still wonder why serving God is important? When we serve God, we put Him first in our lives; this ultimately demonstrates our love and obedience to Him. Furthermore, we receive His blessings and grow closer to Him when we do this.

Conclusion

You experience true freedom, joy, and peace when you serve God. You also gain a deeper understanding of His love for you and develop a stronger relationship with Him.

Additionally, serving God provides strength in difficult times, wisdom for making good decisions, and hope for the future. In short, there are countless benefits of serving God, and I hope this list inspires you to live your life in service to God.

Save this for later!
